To promote the study of population and to especially encourage young researchers in the field, the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute NIDI and the Netherlands Demographic Society NVD yearly bestow the NIDI-NVD Master Thesis Award for the best master thesis in the field of the interdisciplinary study of population/demography. The NIDI-NVD Master Thesis Award carries a €500 cash benefit and a certificate and is awarded on Friday 20 November during the Dutch Demography Week.
To qualify for this Award the Master thesis should:
- have a link with The Netherlands, either through the nationality , place of residence or university of the candidate, or through the choice of topic;
- the this was successfully defended at a recent date (current or previous year)
- be an original Master thesis; a thesis may only compete once;
- be self-nominated by the student within the given deadline.
Participants can send their thesis and a short abstract (max 150 words) to email@example.com. The deadline for submission is Friday 16 October.
An expert jury of NIDI and the Netherlands Demographic Society judges all qualified submissions and selects the laureate.
Please note that if fewer than five theses are submitted, the prize will not be awarded. In that case, applicants will be given the opportunity to compete for the master thesis award 2020.
