Dutch Demography Day 2005

Tuesday 06 September 2005
Academy Building Utrecht

On 6 October 2005 the Netherlands Demographic Society (NVD) hosted the first Dutch Demography Day. Demographers and researchers from other disciplines had the opportunity to present their current research.

Students were explicitly invited to give a presentation based on a recently completed master thesis. As part of its 35th anniversary, NIDI would like to encourage prmote and sponsor demographic practice, by organizing the Dutch Demography and by publishing a selection of presented papers  in book form and awarding of a prize of € 500 for the best thesis presented on Demography. The prize was awarded to Jolanda van der Sluijs for her thesis "Effects of life course transitions on the satisfaction of young adults," written at the University of Tilburg, supervised by Matthijs Kalmijn and Ath Liefbroer.
