Call for Abstracts ‘Day of Demography 2017’ Flanders

On Tuesday, 21 March 2017, the Association for Demography (VVD) will organize its second
Demography Day. This day addresses recent developments in demography and gives (both
experienced and young) researchers the opportunity to present their work to colleagues and
interested scholars. The day consists of Dutch and English spoken parallel sessions and an
interesting keynote lecture will be given by Fred Pearce. Pearce is a science journalist and
author of several books on the ecological, social and economic consequences of the current
demographic trends.

Call for abstracts
Until 12 December 2016, researchers can submit an abstract (maximum 300 words in English
or Dutch) to vvd@demografie.be. Abstracts may address current population issues as well as
historical demography and may have a different geographical scope. Abstracts can be
submitted for the following topics:

  • Mortality & health
  • Households & family transitions
  • Fertility & family formation
  • Migration
  • Demographics, urbanization & planning
  • Data & methodology

Authors will be notified whether their abstract has been accepted in the course of January
2017. Authors whose abstract has been accepted will be invited to submit an extended
abstract (2 to 4 pages) or paper by 6 March 2017.

The final program and practical arrangements regarding registration will be announced in the
course of January 2017.
