NVD Seed Grant 2023 awarded to Sophie Stroisch

The NVD Seed Grant 2022 has been awarded to Sophie Stroisch as a contribution towards the expenses of a research stay at the Federal Institute for Population Research in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Sophie Stroisch is a doctoral candidate at the University of Groningen and the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg. The Seed Grant will support Sophie during her research stay in May 2024 at the Federal Institute for Population Research in Wiesbaden. During her stay, she will use data on the causes of mortality in European border regions. Due to the sensitivity of this data, it is only locally accessible. Additionally, she intends to collaborate with experts in this field in Wiesbaden. Through her stay, she will gain more insight into how the characteristics of European border regions influence mortality rates and the contribution of healthcare to them.

The Netherlands Demographic Society (NVD) aims to provide an opportunity for master's students and doctoral candidates working at the intersection of demography and society to enhance their research through the 'Seed Grant.' A maximum amount of 1,500 euros can be requested for well-defined research activities.
