On 9 November 2011 the Netherlands Demographic Society (NVD) hosted the 4th Dutch Demography Day. The day started with a plenary session with the theme "The inherent conflict between rising life expectancy and declining health. About the societal consequences of longer life". Speakers were Dorly Deeg and Hans van Noorden . The plenary session was followed by three rounds of parallel sessions. The NIDI thesis award was awarded to Tali Spiegel for her thesis ‘The Role of the Availability of Attractive Alternative Partners in Union Dissolution’.
