Dutch Demography Day 2021

On Wednesday 24 November 2021, the Netherlands Demographic Society (NVD) hosted the 14th edition of the Dutch Demography Day, again online this year because of covid restrictions. Demographers and researchers from a range of disciplines presented their research in 11 parallel sessions.

The keynote speech was given by professor Helga de Valk, director of NIDI. Her speech was titled: “Moving on: How mobility in childhood influences later life”.

The 2021 Master Thesis Award was won by Claire Sze Eng Tan (Maastricht University) with her study titled “Returning to a home without a future: The effect of migrant trajectories and experiences on the reintegration of Albanian rejected asylum-seekers”.

Maaike Hornstra (NIDI) received this year’s poster award. The video competition was won by the Bataafs Lyceum from Hengelo.
